- A survey of 4,271 students from more than 10 universities found that about a quarter of the students that had consumed alcohol in the past 30 days said they were mixing alcohol with energy drinks, either the premixed kind or Red Bull and vodka.
- Alcohol use can increase how fast HIV grows, leading to higher amounts of virus (i.e., the viral load) in the body. Those high concentrations, in turn, can increase the spread of the disease.

For men, more than 2 drinks per day on average. Excessive drinking includes heavy drinking, binge drinking or both.
