- As many women under age 30 are drinking at levels that could be harmful to their unborn children, and because an estimated 45 percent of all pregnancies in the U.S. are unplanned, the babies of those women who do abuse alcohol may already suffer damage before mother discovers they are pregnant.
- An estimated 12.2% of alcoholics are unemployed adults who are between the ages of 26 and 34.
- An average sized adult can eliminate the alcohol that is contained in a regular sized twelve ounce can of beer in a hour; if an individual drinks more alcohol than their body can eliminate, their blood alcohol content level will automatically go up.
- Signs of alcohol intoxication include the smell of alcohol on the breath or skin, glazed or bloodshot eyes, the person being unusually passive or argumentative, and/or a deterioration in the person's appearance or hygiene.
